How To Cook Dry Egg Noodles

Stovetop Instructions

Making Mrs. Bonser’s Noodles on a stovetop is simple and easy.

Cooking Instructions for stovetop:

  1. Bring to boil 2-3 quarts of chicken or beef broth
  2. Drop noodles into boiling broth
  3. Reduce heat to a slow boil and cook for 20 minutes or until desired doneness
  4. Stir occasionally to keep noodles from sticking to bottom and each other
  5. Drain for casseroles. If the noodles will be used for soups or as a side dish, they can be left in broth

Instant Pot Instructions

Instant Pots are a fast and easy way to make our hearty noodles alone or as part of an entire meal.

Cooking instructions for Instant Pots:

  1. Pour 32 oz of chicken into instant pot (typically one box or 2 cans)
  2. Add one bag of Mrs. Bonser’s Noodles (any flavor will work, but we suggest pairing according to the broth you start with)
  3. Secure the instant pot lid
  4. Set instant pot for 5 minutes
  5. Follow instructions on how to slow release your instant pot and unplug the unit
  6. Wait until the lid is depressurized
  7. Drain for casseroles. If the noodles will be used for soups or as a side dish, they can be left in broth

Note:
If you are including the noodles in an Instant Pot recipe, you may want to experiment with these directions and put the noodles in the last 5 minutes of cooking your complete dish.  A full bag of our noodles takes up a good amount of space in the cooker when dry, so you may not be able to add them all at once.

Quick Tip: This has worked well for our customers, try cooking them first, setting them aside and put them back in for the last few minutes to combine them with the dish you are preparing.

See Angel Groves Warren, Becky’s sister-in-law, providing video instructions on using an instant pot.

Microwave Oven Instructions

Microwave ovens are a fast and easy way to make our noodles for a quick meal.

Cooking instructions for microwave ovens:

  1. Place enough water or broth of your choice in a microwave safe bowl to cover the noodles
  2. Bring the water or broth to a slow boil (microwave settings vary, you may need to consult your users manual)
  3. Place the noodles in the water or broth for up to 20 minutes or until desired doneness
  4. Take the bowl out of the microwave occasionally to check doneness and gently separate noodles
  5. Drain for casseroles. If the noodles will be used for soups or as a side dish, they can be left in broth

Slow Cooker Instructions

Slow Cookers are a great way to make those meals that require a long, low heat cook.

Cooking instructions for slow cookers:

  • For dishes with a lot of broth (eg. stews and soups): Add noodles for the last hour of slow cooker time
  • For dishes with very little broth (eg. roast beef): prepare noodles separately and add for the last 15 minutes of slow cooker time

Note: Our noodles can stand up to a fair amount of exposure to liquid and heat. But, like almost all other noodles, they won’t produce the best result if left to soak in cooking temperature broth for 4-8 hours.
